Tnalizador - 07/07/08
So there I was at work, using the office's laser printer, a day like any other, the toner runs out in the printer and it alerts me to replace it. never having done that before I was amazed to discover the toner cartridge bears an incredible resemblance to a gun and one of the pump-action variety, truly amazing? that's debatable. sad? definitely. Those crazy guys at Canon must have been seriously bored designing cartridges all the time bog-standard cartridge and thought he! let's gun 'em up a bit and 'gun them up' they did, it's uncanny! and it's obviously not accidental. Here's a sad wee movie I made, celebrating th
e similarity.

First update in donkeys ay!? out or order ay!? call myself a web master ay!? well no actually, I never have, I just own a handfu' o' domains is all and I update 'em at my ain pace or at their owners pace. To tell you the truth I have had laptop issues - mostly to do with having far too much music on my hard drive, it screwed the computer up something awful and the friggin' ipod, fortunately amazon (who I cannot praise enough) replaced my ipod [classic] 3 months after I bought the bloody thing, no quibbles whatsoever. I scrubbed my laptop and have been slowly reinstalling as much legitimate software as possible, finally I got round to installing some web editing stuff, hence the updates. Bummer tho! I have misplaced my iLife '06 discs and cannot continue working on a bunch of new garageband files which will not come as terrible news to most of you as it will mean you'll be spared another earthy [but altogether better made] dose of misery and strife a la MrGogs, well for a wee while anyway. So, it will be fair to expect some more changes around here please tell your friends and pop in a again soon, sweeties all round next time!

Drop that Cocktail - 16/06/08
If you own an ipod that can play video, do yourself a favour and download Handbrake it will convert DVD movies into podable media. I have all the greats converted already - Robocop, Teenwolf and The Big Lebowski.

Van Gone - 13/01/08

Cheer for Chicken - 10/01/08
i have to post this here, I apologise for the grossness but after watching 'Hugh's Chicken Run' that showed on Channel 4 this week, a few nasty memories I had while working at a Hatchery [for a summer job 1996 + 97] came flooding back and I've never properly dealt with them, at an influential age and coming straight out of small-toon west-Fife, it was quite an eye opener...

I was manning a machine that transferred eggs [about to go into an incubator] from one kind of tray onto another, when the power unexpectedly shut off, sending 250 eggs crashing to the floor, that then smashed onto the cold concrete, spilling the contents of undeveloped, unborn chickens everywhere. The company procedure of dealing with such an event was to hose everything into the drain. I took a hose and a squeegie and cleaned it. When the drain was clear we switched the machine back on and took up where we left off.

You see life in it's premature, basic form, looking right back at you, you see it controlled, perverted to be profited from and you wonder who the fuck we think we are. Deep down, i believe all forms of life are equal, that's not something I've been told or something i was taught, I just do and always have done. We have as much right to be here as chickens. Sure there are cycles, there is the food chain, there is a rich tapestry apparently, we reckon we're at the top of that food chain. I don't believe in God and I don't pretend to be him. Somewhere along the way it all got fucked up, we are doing things the wrong way here. A perversion of nature is what we are. As much as I support the free range campaign ( chickenout.tv )and any other campaign that aims to improve standards for people / animals / food / environment etc. there is really fuck all we can do about it.

Kerfuffle - 10/12/07
ocht min! so much has happened since I could last be arsed updating this washed up, burnt oot shell o' bliss... where tae start!?... new joab!? aye, I packed in the ol' freelancin'... for a fu' time position - I do believe the common term is "headhunted"... freein' it was awright for a while but this is Aberdeen afterall - hardly the centre of the universe for creativity. So I now have a senior position [ooh err] at one o' Aberdeen's best creative design outfits, the regular cash is good (f*ck! it's bliss compared to freelancin) the team is brilliant, absolutely brilliant and the premises are a mere 25 minutes stroll up the road fae the new torry pad - oh there's that as well. We bombed oot o' Great Western Road good and proper for a much more spacious affair on Balnagask Road (probably one of Aberdeen's most notorious streets) the wildlife round these parts is pure entertainment, there are also more Polish babes here than you shake a shitty stick at - Wow!

Music-wise Hamper has been slower than the slowest slow thing you can imagine, our bass player has basically pulled out of all future gigs due to family / professional commitments - i did spend the yesterday morning with him at Aberdeen College recording the drums for two tracks 'Last Chance Saloon' and 'Calling' which are sounding pretty f*cking amazing, even though I do say so myself, these are two of our very best songs and I am so excited about getting them recorded to a decent standard and making them available somehow and sometime soon, hopefully. Of course, any news will be posted here as soon as i have any.

Talking of Hamper, Louise and I returned from a week long project two weeks ago in France... Epinal to be precise - quite near the swiss border. The airport we touched down at has three names - each one belonging to a different country - Germany, Switzerland and France, the region is Alsace, Lorraine a territory disputed by all there countries throughout history. You see the influence of the different cultures in the architecture a real mixed bag so it is. We drove from the airport through a quite mountainous region - I could imagine the place teaming with skiers in the Winter.

We got to Epinal a couple of hours later and to 'La Lune en Parachute' - a well established contemporary art centre. This was to be our living quarters / practice room for the week leading up to the opening night / performance of the exhibition on the Friday night. It's a very spacious floor of a terraced house, extremely large rooms, with bog and kitchen, at night we each had a room to ourselves. The kitchen had the bear essentials - sink, worktop, cupboard but the good folk of the arts centre brought us facilities to cook with and every other morning would turn up with a basket of fresh veg / fruit and a care of wine - all locally produced. the eating was brilliant, it was café et croissants every morning, with ham, cheese, we'd cook some pasta with veg in the evenings, on a couple of occasions the locals would cook for us - we had sour krout one night - it was intense, with roast pork and of course loads of wine Surin' the French know how to live and have got their priorities right. Throughout the day there was a huge variety of activity going on - us jamming, the artists drilling, building, hanging etc. the evenings would often result in a kitchen jam with acoustic guitars, David's megaphone, Sven's keyboard / recorder thing. Through the day the set up consisted of two keyboards - one of which was an electronic piano - sounded amazing, the other a casio from 80's sounded nasty but through an effects box it sounded amazing, there was my makeshift drum kit - half of my own and half borrowed from a french dude. Louise on vocals and occasional guitar and David on Megaphone and helium. he would read random stuff in french and english some were lyrics from Bob Dylan songs and a few 80's classics including 'Fame'. So you can imagine the result would be very experimental, a little bit poppy, a little bit jazzy but mostly like some twisted carnival theme tune. David is quite a showman, think Nick Cave meets Iggy Pop and you're halfway there. It felt brilliant to be on the same stage as him and the others. On the opening night we played 2 X 25 minute sets all improvised, it went down an absolute storm. We were asked by the owner of a local cafe / bar to play at his place the following night and as payment we each got a room / free drinks etc. little did he know the thirst of the Scots tho. The night turned out to be a cracker, we played 2.5 + hours all improvised, the customers at the Café [probably used to a more laid back evening] really got into it. All in, it was a tremendous experience, I made some new friends, I enjoyed the soulful French way of life and it was great getting to ponce about in a suit jaiket for a week pretending i was a rock star. Photos up on my facebook. Everything we done was recorded - get a taster here.

I am also colab'in' wi' mark from Hamper on some of our own stuff AKA Ekranoplan. It starts with an idea here or at his in Edinburgh, we get it down on Garageband, then send the files to the other. we will then add to it and post it here. There are another 3 tunes in the works but here are two for starter. Let me know what you think.

Next Door - 01/10/07
You won't believe this, I still can't believe it myself but the ol' geezer this article is referring to is my next door neighbour and I don't mean 'neighbour' in the loose way like he's a couple o' doors up the road or anything, I mean his door is right next to mine. I only recently moved in to this gaff and have seen and spoken to him on a number of occasions. He is the frailest, gentlest lookin' aul' sodjer I've ever clapped my eyes on, he's AFC nuts, he never wears anything other than Aberdeen colours, he gets all flagged up before every game, I see him marching off to Pittodrie on match days, he even coordinates his socks, one red and one white. I cannae believe anyone would want to harm him. What is it that is wrong wi Aberdonian neds? they are the pishest neds in Scotland, they knock shit out of pensioners, cos that's as hard as they get. Anyway, here's hoping ol' Mr Goldie will be back next door, oot o' hospital, very soon... an' mon the Dons while we're at it!

Spanish Pies Are Bilin' - 14/08/07
